Museo de Larco and Barranco
November 15, 2020
The Museo de Larco display of pre Columbian masterpieces was fantastic. The collection of ancient jewellery and costume items really brought the existence of the Inca Empire to life. The museum’s display of the fabulous gold, silver and gemstone pieces for the head, ears and nose were spectacular. It was unbelievable to find colourful woven fabrics from this period still in tact. It was a very special museum.

We decided to take it easy in the afternoon and went to Barranco for a sightseeing stroll in this quiet town. We found a museum dedicated to Mario Testino, the world renowned fashion photographer who is from Barranco. This small museum displayed a good selection of his photos of celebrities and Vogue fashion shoots as well as photos of Peruvian traditional costumes. We enjoyed the coastal views and walk through the mix of modern and old architecture.
